Help with childcare costs
You may qualify for help with your childcare costs from Work and Income New Zealand (WINZ). To qualify your income needs to be under a certain limit and your child(ren) must be under 18, living with you and dependent on you.
To qualify for WINZ subsidies each parent/caregiver in the same household as the child must for the times the child is in Kiwicare, be in paid work or on a WINZ approved training or study programme. Sometimes WINZ may agree to recognise extra time and therefore increase your hours to allow for travelling to and from your course or work.
A WINZ subsidy (for 3-6year olds conditions apply) for your hours a week is available for quality care and education for your child(ren). Our reception staff will fill out the forms for you to apply for these subsidies. The childcare subsidy can help with childcare costs for children aged 0-13 years for up to 50 hours a week for working parents see WINZ page below.
The OSCAR (Out of School Care and Recreation Subsidy) is for children aged between 5 and 13 and can help with the costs of before and after school care up to 20 hours during school term and is 20 hours per week, maximum non taxable Rate 1 is $76.80, Rate 2 is $53.40 and rate 3 is $29.60. For 50 hours a week in school holidays. Rate 1 Maximum is $192.00, Rate 2 is $133.50 and Rate 3 is $74.00
