Trips
Based on our current focus for the term we take the children on a variety of field trips. Parents must specifically authorise their child to go on such trips and will receive the necessary authorisation form and other information before the trip. All children and parents/guardians of children are encouraged to go. Sometimes these excursions have a fee ($10-$15) which includes transportation and entrance fees. These trips are to Butterfly Creek, the Theatre, Old McDonald's Farm, the Zoo and other places of interest. For various reasons some children may remain in the centre.

Regular local excursions & Community involvement
We enjoy excursions close to the centre such as walks to the park, library, local shops and other places of interest to the children. At enrolment time you sign a general authority for your child to attend these excursions. At all times the child to adult ratios are as per the licensing requirements.

Kiwicare has a process involving parents/caregivers through which we take advantage of formal and informal opportunities to communicate with staff providing education and care about their children and share specific evidence of their child's learning and development and to involve parent/caregivers in decision making concerning their child. This process includes but is not limited to developing and implementing the following:

Settling in plans, day to day communication book, flip sheets and daily record sheets, transition plans, portfolios, curriculum's learning journey, wall displays, parent notice boards, videos, photo stories, proACTIV board, concerts, trips, parent interviews, parent evenings and liaison with other health and service professionals as necessary and appropriate.

Birthday parties
We understand that in many cultures a child's birthday is a wonderful event and we encourage this in our programme. If you wish your child to celebrate their birthday at Kiwicare you can arrange it with the staff. We celebrate birthdays at morning tea (9.30am). Parents and any extra family members/friends are most welcome to attend. Often parents bring a birthday cake and party hats for these occasions.
