Services - Philosophy, policies and charter

Philosophy, policies and charter

This pack is a short outline of our philosophy and many of our services and procedures. A complete set of policies and procedures is available in the Centre Manager's office. Our philosophy, learning and teaching practices, operational documents, policies and procedures are reviewed annually in consultation with our parents/caregivers, local community groups, health professionals and professional advisory bodies, to ensure they are understood by all and meet the current requirements of appropriate professional practice, of the regulations and of our clients.

If you have any comments or ideas on these documents your ideas will always be considered.

Staff are more than happy to talk to you about your child's day, progress or any concerns or information regarding your child. Please make time to see your child's dedicated staff member. They are always available.

As the children's interests develop in regard to particular things, occupations, activities and services which exist in the general community we arrange for individuals and groups involved in these to visit the centre to explain to the children their activity or area of interest. On occasions the children also visit these individuals and groups at their place of operation.

This includes a vast array of occupations, interests, hobbies and activities including:

Community groups - Heart Foundation, puppet shows, drama groups, cultural groups, musicians, sports clubs, pet farm, Fire Service, Ambulance, Police etc,

Trades people - builders, plumbers, electricians, landscapers, IT consultants etc

Agencies - Special Education Service, Vision Service, Plunket, Auditory Service, Dental Service, Training Institutes, Universities etc.

Government quality strategic plan

Kiwicare will easily meet the government guidelines for quality specified in the strategic plan. The guidelines mean that by 1 January 2007 50% of staff need to be qualified and Kiwicare will have 74% qualified; the Government requires that by 2010 we need 80% qualified and our records show that we will have 93% of childcare staff qualified.

Policies and fee changes

Kiwicare reserves the right to make changes to the above policies and fees with 30 days’ written notice.
